Go PRO to continue playing GeoGuessr

For over 10 years GeoGuessr players have had the opportunity to play the game for free. We have decided to no longer offer that possibility starting February 1st, 2024. Therefore, all existing players with a free account will need to sign up for a GeoGuessr PRO subscription to continue playing the game.

Playing challenges, quizzes, and any game mode within a party invited by a PRO member will however continue to be free.

Furthermore, the price for all NEW PRO subscriptions will be adjusted starting that same date; February 1st, 2024.

The planned price adjustments are dependent on your currency. As an example, the subscription plan PRO Unlimited will be adjusted from US$ 1.99/month to US$ 2.99/month for a yearly subscription.

We haven't made any significant price adjustments to our subscription offering since it was introduced back in 2019, despite high inflation and increased costs such as hosting.

These updates will allow us to invest more in the game. It will make it possible for us to deliver more value to our players, adding more awesome features, amazing content, and improving the game we love. We are also ramping up investments in the competitive scene. The upcoming World Cup 2024 is a pivotal moment in this journey.

Are the price changes also for existing PRO subscriptions?

The price for PRO subscriptions signed up before February 1st has not changed. The communicated price adjustments above apply to all new PRO subscriptions starting Feb 1st, 2024.

What game modes can still be played for free on GeoGuessr.com?

You can still play challenges, quizzes and any game mode within a party together with a PRO member for free. www.geoguessr.com/free is still available.

Can I still play the Daily Challenge with a free account?

No – To continue playing the Daily Challenge a PRO subscription is needed.

Is it still possible to play for free in the apps?

Yes – There are no changes to the free version of the app.

Do the PRO subscriptions also include the apps?

Yes – With PRO Basic/Unlimited/Elite you enjoy all game modes and features in both the web game and in the Apps, with unlimited play.

On February 1st we are also launching a separate mobile offer: PRO Mobile, which is only available on the Mobile Apps. At a lower price, starting from US$ 1.99/month with a yearly subscription, you get full access to the Apps with unlimited play but can't play the web game. If you wish to upgrade your PRO subscription to also include web, later on, you can do that in your account settings in the App.

Will Seterra still be free to play?

Yes – Seterra will still be free to play.

Will Gift Cards purchased before the price change still be valid?

Yes – You will still be able to redeem your previously purchased Gift Card after the 1st of February.

What will happen to my account if I don't pay for a PRO subscription now?

Up until February 1st you can still play for free with the existing ticket system. After that, you will need to upgrade to a PRO subscription to continue playing. You will still be able to access your account and play challenges, quizzes and join parties with PRO members.
