Most of the world’s largest countries by area are located in Africa. Algeria, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Sudan, Libya, and Chad are all among the top 20 largest countries in the world. If we expand the selection to look at the 70 largest countries by area, 26 of them are located in Africa. Europé, by contrast, has no countries in the top 40 by area. France, the largest country on the continent, is the 41st largest in the world.
