Even though it is home to many of the smallest states by territory like Rhode Island, Vermont, and New Hampshire, many of the largest and oldest cities in the United States are located in the Northeast. Places like Philadelphia, Boston, and of course New York form a nearly continuous urban expanse that stretches for over one hundred miles. Thanks to hundreds of years of migration from all the world, the region is teeming with diversity and life.
